We walk 12/14

Dichotomous Distractions
can't be dreamt,
only lived in quiet steps
between a platform and a place of peace.
Collectively stretching shadows
until we blend into silent symbolism,
we walk,
awaiting a chant,
apprehensively appreciative
of life,
it's value
and it's protection.
And my children witnessed
only the safety of home,
the creaks of the floorboards,
and the company they keep
for another night.
