Make your goals
 more than brick and mortar,
 so that your memories
are worth more than the mortgage
and you don't die with it's sale
or shrivel up when friends aren't as frequent.
 You life is your legacy
and how you teach other to live
is far greater than the manicured grass
 or last fall's leaf collection.
 The boxes of yesterday
 will gather dust,
 a generation from now
 if we don't turn
 the yellowed pages
and hear the truth of your existence.
 Giving up isn't an option,
 even as anger eats us
 with the crisp of apples
b/c living isn't confined to a familiar street
 or the completion of a dream;
 it's just the beginning.
